Every day we come across beautiful homes on blogs and in magazines but there always are a select few that stay with us much longer than the others..we love revisiting them every now and again to get inspired.. Here is one such home that I first saw in House and Garden( May 2008) and cliched though it may sound, it was 'love at first sight'.
This converted farmhouse on the Adriatic coast of Italy is the home to two homewares designers and has been a sort of work in progress for the last 20 years. Redesigned and decorated by interior designer Jonathan Reed it epitomises 'Mediterranean minimalism' at its very best!
If I were to choose just one favourite aspect of this gorgeous home, it would definitely be its beautifully understated yet timelessly elegant spare bedroom...with its beautiful ceiling ..a muted color palette and that hard to beat view ( sorry for the poor scan)...the perfect guestroom in my opinion...Since this is my favourite part of the house..this is where I would like to start the tour...
An intricately inlaid Syrian chest is flanked by a pair of beds designed by Jonathan in ebonized timber. The beds were deliberately kept high to provide views through the window down to the coast...
The entrance hall is dominated by a bleached and sandblasted oak table...with framed pressed gunnera leaves lending a quirky touch...
The main drawing room opens out into a dining area..both bearing a 'clean rustic' decor...much like the rest of the house...
A closer look...
Antique linen covers the chaise lounge...
A slightly more formal decor defines the room that the duo use for their business meetings...
An outdoor dining area on the terrace with sweeping views of the Adriatic sea...doesn't get any better than this now..or does it??
PS: I wish I could provide a link to the rest of the images and the accompanying article ( which makes for a very interesting read) but I couldn't find any images on the net and the smaller images in the magazine just weren't coming out nice through the scan. If anyone has a link please forward it to me and I'll be happy to share it here.

So dreamy. I love how coastal homes can get by with less actual decor. The architecture & atmosphere really do it all!
Absolutely gorgeous. Understated is right! Those twin headboards are fantastic!!
it would an understatement to say...drop dead gorgeous!!..thanks for sharing the house pics
I love that dining room. A beautiful house which proves you don't need a lot of 'decor' to be beautifully decorated. Thanks for posting!
So Beautiful. Ideal place to relax. I am looking for same outdoor table. Gorgeous,

love the inlay!
Beautiful photos... I want to live inside each one.
I can't get enough of these high contrast spaces with lots of woods and antiques and a rustic feel. I just love them!
