The unaltered rustic exterior of the red brick house contrasts sharply with the seamless blend of country and contemporary inside...
The original red and green glazed terracotta tiles grace the entryway which boasts of some quirky art and the famed Eames chair...
The lounge/living room is study in contrasts with a mixed bag of styles..the modern plasma t.v. combines harmoniously with the retro chartreuse sofa and the folklorish coffee table..the famous rocking chair by Ray and Charles Eames is a nod to all the white elements in the room...and the huge lamp by Mariano Fortuny makes an 'illuminating' statement...
In the all white kitchen ..the cabinet doors open to reveal black lacquered shelves, providing a striking backdrop for the ceramics and glass...The closet opens into what was previously a servant's sleeping corner... now converted into a lovely little nook for reading...
My favourite part of the house is this serene dining room..beautiful in its simplicity...the all white canvas of walls, painted floor boards and beams is made even more gorgeous with a gentle contrast provided by the moroccan rug and fresh flowers...
Colorful blankets and a moroccan rug add warmth to the pristine white bedroom ...and the large windows bring the outdoors in...
The old barn is now the office cum studio..where the beams and brick walls have been left exposed ..the stark simplicity of the vast room is enlivened by the colorful Mongolian rug...Thomas Eyck now has to negotiate just a short walk down a corridor to get to his office from home..a real luxury!
