Interiors | Eco-consciousness | The (Super) Model Way

Take a tour of super-model Gisele Bündchen's home in Brentwood, California, that she shares with her husband, Tom Brady and their children. In their eco-conscious home, they use solar energy for all their electricity needs, recyle water, grow their own vegetables, rear chickens and have composting to utilize organic waste.

Surely, such aspects display 'model' behaviour, well worth emulating, but their 'life' per se is hardly  'normal' as AD would have us believe. Not that I'd complain for such 'normalcy' in my life!

Here she is, in all her super gorgeousness...

Meyha's Room | Little Changes

I shared pictures of my daughter Meyha's room almost 2 years back (here). I loved everything about that room, so I never bothered to change anything. However, I recently made a few minor changes to make it a little brighter and add some extra sleeping option...

Here's the 'Before' picture ( the light is really bad in this one)...

And this is what it looks like now...

As you can see everything is practically the same, but I changed the bed linen and cushions ( still staying with the pink and blue color scheme ) , only they are brighter this time. The two slip-covered ottomans (from Bo Concept) at the foot of the bed  are a new addition to the room. They provide extra seating when Meyha has friends over and if a couple of them stay for the night, we unfold the ottomans and they join to make a very comfortable Queen-sized bed!! It is really like having an extra bed in the room without compromising the space.

The candy- striped bolsters and the reversible quilt on the bed are both custom-made. The chevron cushions are from Good Earth. The beautiful woven basket is something I picked up from a craft bazaar in Delhi. It looks like it was specifically made for this room!

The very vibrant lumbar pillow has been made from an intricately hand-embroidered vintage textile ( a beautiful tribal skirt that I had sourced) from the state of Gujarat.  It is really the focal-point of this room.

I am very happy with the fresh vibe of this room now...some time little things go a long way. I would love to know your thoughts on this mini-make-over.

Interiors | Black & White | Classic-Modern

Today I came across the work of Spanish interior designer Nacho Polo while looking for some black & white interior inspiration.

This particular project entailed restoring the historical memory of an early 19th century home in Madrid. The end product is truly swoon-worthy... with the old glory restored by uncovering and retaining the old architectural details and new life infused through a clever and artistic amalgamation of classic and modern design elements...

In all the rooms there is a beautiful juxtaposition of modern furniture with the traditional architectural details like the elaborate crown molding. The effect is very striking yet harmonious...

Such a gorgeous collection of chandeliers...

If a black & white palette is too stark or daunting for you, experimenting with the look in a small space, a power room for instance, may be the best way to go...

Kitchen | Pitched Ceiling | Skylight

Today I am crushing on these  two kitchens with pitched ceilings. The skylights expand the space visually by flooding the rooms with natural light...

First with a cool, modern feel...

The other with a rustic-industrial flair...

Looking at these images,  an attic seems to be just the place to set up a kitchen!

Monday Workspace

A sawhorse worktable with the iconic Arco lamp hovering over it, sheets of paper waiting to be scribbled upon with the blueprint for a new idea, rolls of fabric ready to be fashioned into something fabulous and to top it all, that utterly fabulous ceiling..Surely there isn't a better place to start a brand new work week! Have a great Monday, everyone!
