A lot of neutral key pieces ( mainly black & white), vintage finds, a nod to her Moroccan heritage ( I spotted a Beni Ourain rug, a moroccan wedding blanket & a bone inlay chest )  and a very obvious love for all things 'brass'.

Interior | A Modest Affair With Color

"I wanted it to feel more like a cottage than an estate", says J. Christopher Burch ( Ex- husband of Tory Burch who co-founded her name-sake label with her). Compared to the other mansions along one of New Island's toniest beaches, this one sure is modest and unassuming, as desired by Burch. But it does have its fair share of style combined with an inviting, energetic flair...a holiday home where you kick-off your shoes and spend some quality time with family. There is also a more than modest sprinkling of color to go with the home-owner's playful lifestyle ( as witnessed in the last image!)...

Interior | Mediterranean flair | California dream house

Talk about a dream house in a dream location. A very desirable but difficult to find combination. This  California home got both in spades and HOW! I could move right in and not change a thing...the setting, furniture, furnishings...Not A Thing...Are the Realty Gods listening?

Could there be a better setting than this...

 Pared-down cannot look more perfect than it does here, in this simple yet charming dining room...this is the kind of minimalism I could happily embrace...

 A lovely spot for sipping wine as the sun sets...looking far into nothingness...

 The colors, the wall finish, the linens..so beautiful so organic...

A queen bed topped with twin bunk beds to accommodate the home-owners' many grandkids...a practical yet aesthetically pleasing solution...

I love this study / library..dark, moody and so inviting..It is very much like the library we have in our home...

How striking are these stripes on the floor and ceiling..as if one is a reflection of the other...

Perfection does exist...

Take a look at this set-up..the kitchen, dining, pantry and a linen/ironing room all linked up in the most stylish and practical way..and you'll have to agree with me. This is what perfection looks like. Don't be alarmed if you experience acute storage and organization envy...The inhabitants of this house seem to have mastered it ..and how!! And those glass partitions are killing me!!!! Come on.. feast your eyes on this cream & black gorgeousness...

Different but similar...

Look at the similarity between these two rooms..a dining space and a bathroom. They are from the same house..that of interior designer Vanessa Alexander. Though the function of the two rooms could not be more different..the layout & decor works perfectly in both...

Today I am loving...

. ...the beautiful juxtaposition of wood & white in this dining room..the rough hewn table a perfect counterpoint to the graceful lines of the iconic Panton chair. The dip painted stools offer up some great DIY potential should you feel crafty over the weekend... . .

Classic love: Serge Mouille lamps

A French icon from the 50's, the Serge Mouille lamp in all its avatars is a great example of beauty in simplicity. Mouille made all his lamps with hand, never resorting to the use of machine technology to boost the numbers, despite huge demand for his designs. It is no wonder then that his iconic lamps are more than just a source of lighting..they are infact pieces of art..just as Mouille had intended them to be.

I love them for their clean lines and amazing versatility. Here are some of my favourite interiors where a Mouille lamp take pride of place but doesn't ever overwhelm ..such is its quiet understated beauty...
