Beautiful in Brooklyn...

Neutral, sparse, light-filled,warm and very very personal..just some words to describe the 1860's, Brooklyn brownstone that actress Keri Russell and husband Shane Deary call home. A painstaking and thorough remodelling that the duo undertook (with Deary leading the reclaiming and renovations and Keri spearheading the decor)...transformed what was once a warren of suffocating rooms into a stunning  light filled haven...

The living room with its neutral palette is sparse..almost minimalistic but the little touches like the rug and the chandelier add warmth and glamour , while the round mirror and side table( made by Deary from reclaimed pine) highlight the personal touch which is really the hallmark of this home...

The dining area adjoins the kitchen and is a continuation of the theme 'less is more'...

The cabinetry and the kitchen island have been  made from reclaimed pine...all by the very talented Mr. Deary!

To steer clear of the cliched farmhouse chic, given the amount of wood in the equation, Kery chose her furniture and textiles very well..opting to stay in the neutral territory and play with textures .The master bedroom is a study in serenity...the neutral textiles and wall paint get just a hint of color through art and foliage..the Ikea sheepskin rug adds texture while the bed side table is again a Deary creation ...

Deary built the shelves of the dressing room...the large mirror and arm chair add to the understated elegance of the space...

Really, what's not to love about this house...truly a labour of love!!
