Library Lust | Vintage DVF

Take a look at Diane von Furstenberg's library at her estate...

I really have no words for this...what a space...My daughter could spend her entire summer holidays in this one room and be entirely content and happy... And I could really get creative at that work-table...This place seems to have such great energy...

What's life...

...without hope...

For the fashion-lovers, some threads and stuff from DVF's archives...

There are leopards in the library...

I'm dying for these bags...the predecessors of the famed 'TONDA' clutch, perhaps...and each one of those prints...

A total surprise..these 'rad-red' fringed pants...so fun!

The lady herself...who doesn't cease to amaze...

And no post about DVF could be complete without the dress that she pretty much owes her fashion career to..She calls it the 'simple little dress'..

 It's a Wrap!

Interior | A Modest Affair With Color

"I wanted it to feel more like a cottage than an estate", says J. Christopher Burch ( Ex- husband of Tory Burch who co-founded her name-sake label with her). Compared to the other mansions along one of New Island's toniest beaches, this one sure is modest and unassuming, as desired by Burch. But it does have its fair share of style combined with an inviting, energetic flair...a holiday home where you kick-off your shoes and spend some quality time with family. There is also a more than modest sprinkling of color to go with the home-owner's playful lifestyle ( as witnessed in the last image!)...

Interior | Mediterranean flair | California dream house

Talk about a dream house in a dream location. A very desirable but difficult to find combination. This  California home got both in spades and HOW! I could move right in and not change a thing...the setting, furniture, furnishings...Not A Thing...Are the Realty Gods listening?

Could there be a better setting than this...

Pared-down cannot look more perfect than it does here, in this simple yet charming dining room...this is the kind of minimalism I could happily embrace...

A lovely spot for sipping wine as the sun sets...looking far into nothingness...

The colors, the wall finish, the linens..so beautiful so organic...

A queen bed topped with twin bunk beds to accommodate the home-owners' many grandkids...a practical yet aesthetically pleasing solution...

I love this study / library..dark, moody and so inviting..It is very much like the library we have in our home...

How striking are these stripes on the floor and ceiling..as if one is a reflection of the other...

Interior|Elegance|Carrara

Just look at this awesome bathroom..elegant in its pared-down aesthetic and neutral palette...with a generous application of Carrara marble tiles upping the chicness quotient. And those pendant lights are insanely covetable...

For my mother...

This is a difficult post to write , but one that must be written and shared, to help me move on.
I am getting back to this blog after many months today on Mother's Day. It has been a difficult time , first with my mother's battle with cancer and finally when her fight got over, nearly 3 months back, free from all that pain and suffering, but leaving us all with this unfathomable sense of loss, injustice  and this deep deep void. It is always difficult to lose a parent, more so if it is untimely and accompanied by suffering of that parent. It leaves you with a strange mix of memories, initially dominated by the all suffering one witnessed, that really overshadows all the beautiful years one shared with that person. I'm told there would come a day when I will only remember the good times and I do believe that.

As I deal with my life without my mother,  I take strength from the courage and dignity with which she fought this battle and eventually accepted the inevitable with immense grace. She'll always be missed and forever live within the hearts of those who loved her and were touched by her beautiful life...she would forever inspire me to try and live an honorable life...

Today my best wishes go out to all the mothers of this world..the great reservoirs of endless, selfless love...You all are doing God's work. Happy Mother's Day.
