I have a fascination for animal and bird forms and have quite a few of them strewn all over my house... One day I will do a post on all such figures I have collected over the years..On my recent trip to Jaipur, among other things, I found a couple of beautiful sculptures which would be fabulous as bookends...let's call them 'beauties with a purpose' , shall we...
A traditionally decorated elephant in a sitting position carved out of beige sandstone...
A simple yet stylized crouching ibis made of pristine white Italian marble...
Both of them are heavy enough to keep the books from leaning down.
When not doing duty as bookends..they work just as well...simply being pretty!
What do you think?

What a charming thing to collect! They are lovely and chock full of personality. And I think I spy a sneak of the much-loved Panton dining chair around the corner...
ReplyDeleteI love these Meenal, they are beautiful and interesting.
